Due to winter weather and expected road conditions, all Kanawha County Schools will be closed tomorrow, Tuesday, December 9th.
This will be a true snow day, no virtual learning. While the snow is expected to end at some point this evening, temperatures are not forecasted to rise above freezing until at least midday Tuesday. That means road conditions are not likely to improve in time for a safe morning start, so a two-hour delay would not be helpful.
π Reminder: Wednesday, December 10th is a scheduled PL day, so there will be no school for students on Wednesday either.
Thank you for your understanding and for working with us as we prioritize student safety.

Due to an upgraded weather report and snow moving into the area more quickly than expected, all KCS schools will dismiss students two hours earlier than their normal release time today. All bus drop-offs will also be two hours earlier than normal. All Third Base Programs are canceled today.
We understand that weather-related decisions can be frustrating and raise concerns. Please know that these decisions are made using the most current information available at the time, including input from weather briefings and reports from our transportation and operations teams.
Thank you for your patience and continued support.

Weβre keeping a close eye on the weather tonight as snow is expected to move into the area sometime after midnight. Because of the timing, a decision about a possible two-hour delay canβt be made until very early in the morning.
If a delay is needed, families and staff would receive notification around 5:00 a.m. through:
- KCS FB Page
- Phone call & text
- KCS mobile app (push alert)
- WVDE cancellation page
- Schoology
Weβll continue monitoring conditions overnight. If you donβt see or hear anything from KCS in the morning, please plan on a normal start time.
Stay warm, and hereβs hoping your morning alarm gets to do its job as planned! β°βοΈ
